The project name was 80.84. The architect was YASUO IMAZU/ninkipen! The project was aimed for house. It was located in Nara, Japan. The design was 2008.2-2008.7. The construction was 2008.8-2009.3Scale. The site area was 134.57m2. The Building area needed 65.24m2. The total floor area was 80.84m2.
A small residence was built for a couple with one child, situated in Nara, Japan.A large number of individual houses, which spread over a gentle slope facing south, determined the neighborhood. During the design process, the lot right beside was still empty and it was unclear what was going to be built.
Therefore, the design should be autonomous, but at the same time it should be able to react positively on whatever was going to be built next door. The volume of the house was consisted of an uneven volume, which divided and changed both in ground plan and elevation into sub-volumes that were visually separated, but connected through continuous lighting and ventilation. The interconnected cubes with no doors characterized the interior space. The deliberate nooks and narrowings between the rooms ensured privacy. The house, which was with 80.84 m2, was relatively small. The continuous spaces that always let anticipate the following room, brought a sense of larger extent.
A family house in Nara, Japan, was completed by Japanese studio Ninkipen! It consisted of staggered rectangular volumes. A skylight penetrated both floors of the residence to draw light down into the kitchen. The open-plan interior was covered in white, with wooden flooring and detailing. The inside the house had not doors, even rooms flew into one another through interconnected doorways.
