The architects were FORM/Kouichi Kimura Architects. It was located in Shiga, Japan. The Client was Private. The Construction was built in 2008. The Site Area was 327,97m2. The Constructed Area needed 181,74m2. The Photographs were Takumi Ota

The client needed the house “to live while feeling nature without being bothered by looking from the neighbors”. To make the best use of the lot, the planning of the house design was to enclose the lot with the trench extended beyond the building. It served an interior courtyard as the center. The images were clipped by the enclosed space from the surrounding landscapes. So, a comfortable outdoor living room was created because it was not exposed to the outside world. In consideration of “what to take in and what to conceal”, the position of each opening was carefully created. The opening of the living dining room with kitchen was positioned on the second floor. It was most effective in concert with the interior. In this house, “how to close/open” was the most important theme in the open environment.

The modern house was situated at the foot of a hill where the fields and houses were mixed together.

FORM/Kouichi Kimura Architects completed the House of Vision last year. The Japanese house was a private home in Shiga, Japan to keep the client from neighbours. The house showed largely blank exterior elevations. There were large windows looking onto an enclosed central courtyard. Photographs were by Takumi Ota.
