This house design is an intermediate terrace house designed by Singapore-based Formwerkz Architects. Named as the ‘Alley-way’ House, this house was designed for a family of four and their pets in Singapore. The house has 240 sq metres Gross Floor Area on the 150 sq metres site area.

The dominant linearity of the site is the background concept for an “alleyway“. This alley way is important for effective cross-ventilation through the dwelling. There is a rough, cement-rendered party-wall extends throughout the entire section of the dwelling. The textured wall forms a unifying element for various parts of the dwelling and it is intended for the creeping plants.

The master bedroom and outdoor shower is placed on the second level. The living space is also raised from the street level to minimize visibility. At the front of the house, there is a layer of plants shields the space from the street for privacy. The entrance wall is built from the galvanized-steel grilles fold down from the car porch canopy.
